Dr. Violeta Radenovich

Dr. Violeta Radenovich was born in Tingo Maria, Peru and received her Medical Degree from the University Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru in 1988 after which she practiced in medically underserved areas for one year before moving to the United States in 1988 where she obtained her Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1991.

Dr. Radenovich then became the first foreign medical graduate to be accepted into the General Ophthalmology Residency Program at the University of Texas @ Houston which she completed in 1995 and went on to complete a Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship in Houston with Malcom L. Mazow, M.D., President of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus.  (

Dr. Radenovich is the only Female US Residency & Fellowship-Trained Pediatric Ophthalmologist in El Paso.   She is also Board Certified – and Recertified – by the American Board of Ophthalmology.  ( Find us on Facebook, and Contact us!

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Radenovich is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics @ Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine and holds numerous state medical licenses. Currently Dr. Radenovich is enrolled as a Fellow in the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine Program at The University of Arizona which she expects to complete in the fall of 2023.  (Integrative medicine is a wholistic approach to wellness that combines traditional western medical techniques such as drugs and surgery with other non-traditional therapies such as osteopathy, homeopathy and naturopathy techniques). Dr. Radenovich is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, Texas Medical Association, Texas Pediatric Ophthalmology Association, and the El Paso County Medical Society. As a contributor to many lectures and publications that include the International Conference on Retinopathy of Prematurity AAO meeting 1996, Manual for Health Workers, Iscozacin 1986, and co-editor of Niños Child Survival Journal 1987-1988, Dr. Radenovich’s article “Eye on the Border – From the Files of a Pediatric Ophthalmologist” was accepted by TMA and AMA joint 2006 annual meeting. Dr. Radenovich’s special surgical and treatment interests include, but are not limited to, Strabismus (crossed eyes), pediatric cataracts and Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), a blinding disease that affects premature infants.
